Decommissioning Oil & Gas
The Cromarty Firth is currently the site of several oil and gas rig decommissioning. Local's complain the site is an eye sore, however it's also a symbol of hope as it represents a decline in fossil fuel use. The transition to renewable energy will rapidly accelerate our transition to net-zero emissions, stalling global warming and hopefully enabling carbon fixing efforts to reverse the effects of climate change. With current investment in renewable energy technology we are a long way off the complete decommissioning of fossil fuel mines, but with ambitious policy change we still have time.
